Successfully completed final factory testing and delivery of the generator for the Swiss market

In 2020, KONČAR – Generators and Motors (GIM) concluded a contract with a turbine partner from Austria for the production and delivery of two horizontal synchronous generators with non-contact excitation and associated equipment for the Small Hydroelectric Power Plant (SHPP) Augand in Switzerland, the implementation of which was completed in by the agreed deadline in September 2022.

Technical characteristics of synchronous generators are 5200 kVA, 6300 V, and 428.6 rpm. Generators will be installed next to each other and are mirror symmetrical. The construction of the generator itself had to be specially optimized due to the limited access roads to the power plant.

Supervision during the implementation of the project, from design and various stages of production to testing in the factory, was carried out by the company BKW Energie from Switzerland. Cooperation with partners from Austria and engineers from BKW was very interesting considering that technical solutions were continuously exchanged for the purpose of optimizing electromechanical equipment. The technical office should be specially highlighted, which despite the relatively long implementation of the contract, successfully met all technical requirements and challenges during the project.

It should be noted that GIM has delivered a total of five compact generators for this specific and technically demanding market, three of them in the last ten months. In cooperation with its partner GIM, it continues to offer electromechanical equipment for small hydropower plants in Switzerland.
