Contracting in Austria

After several months of offering and negotiating via teleconferences, without visiting the power plant due to new business conditions caused by the pandemic, KONČAR – Generators and Motors, Inc. (GIM) signed the first direct contract for a renowned Austrian customer in March this year.

Built in 2007, HPP Schwarzach is located in East Tyrol and currently has one unit in operation. The previously planned expansion with another unit is currently being implemented. GIM’s scope of supply includes a new generator with a capacity of 12.5 MVA, 6.3 kV and 500 rpm, a new brushless excitation system that will be delivered by KONČAR – Electronics and Informatics, Inc., spare parts and training of customer personnel, as well as installation and commissioning of generators.

Due to the new generators’ technical requirements for this as well as other customers in the markets of Austria, Germany and Switzerland, it is necessary to organize a rotor overspeed test in the factory, and a trial installation before shipment to the site. Parts of the generator should therefore be completed in GIM by December this year, and shipment to the site is planned for February next year. The completion of works on site is planned for July 2022.
